Soulful Sunday - Striking a Balance: Allowing vs Action

Jun 15, 2025

Hello Heather and Happy Sunday!

This week I have been reflecting on polarities and opposites and all of the varying advice and information we receive on a daily basis.

How do you navigate this? What tips do you have? Hit reply, I’d love to know.

Today’s newsletter focuses on striking the balance between allowing and action.
I don’t know about you, but this has been something that I’ve struggled with and still do. It’s a continuing practice.

Grab a cuppa (mines a very strong Italian Roast) and make yourself comfortable and let’s take a deeper look at balancing intuition with action.

Striking the Balance Between Allowing and Action

As we navigate the intricate dance between personal development and business achievement, one theme consistently arises: the delicate balance between allowing and action. This balance is not just a philosophy but a practice that can transform the way you approach your goals, relationships, and overall success.

What Does 'Allowing' Mean?

Allowing is the art of surrendering—letting go of resistance and trusting the process. It’s about creating space for possibilities to unfold naturally and recognising when to pause and observe, rather than force outcomes. In personal growth, allowing means embracing patience, self-compassion, and receptivity to life’s lessons. In business, it’s trusting the strategic plans you’ve implemented and letting the results emerge organically.

It's also about trusting your decisions, that they are so emphatic there is no room for doubt. Remembering it’s not always about making the right decisions but making those decisions right (as my father used to remind me).

The Power of Action

Action, on the other hand, is the driving force that propels forward momentum. It’s about intentional effort, perseverance, and making decisions that align with your vision. While allowing opens the door to possibilities, action ensures you walk through that door and seize opportunities.

In the realm of personal development, action involves setting goals, building habits, and cultivating discipline. In business, it’s about executing strategies, taking informed risks, and adapting to change.

It’s also the balance between ‘inspired’ action and the awareness of when you are pushing. Pushing energy tends to result in resistance and repelling rather than attraction.

Always check your energy and intention before acting. A 5-minute reset can save you hours of exhausting pushing that reaps little if any reward.

Why Balance Is Key

Too much focus on allowing can lead to stagnation, where you wait endlessly for life to "happen" without actively engaging with it. On the flip side, excessive action without allowing can result in burnout, frustration, or forcing results that aren’t sustainable. The magic lies in knowing when to pivot from allowing to action.

Practical Tips to Strike the Balance

1. Tune into Your Intuition

Your intuition often holds the key to discerning whether a situation calls for allowing or action. Take time to quiet your mind and listen to your inner voice. This is a huge part of what I share, and it takes practice. Like anything worthwhile, repetition, intention and consistency can accelerate and expand your intuitive awareness skills.

2. Use the Power of Reflection

Regularly reflect on your goals and progress. Are you pushing too hard, or are you holding back when action is necessary? Adjust accordingly.
I am mid-way through my 30 days of writing out my goals morning and evening. It’s been a powerful way of not only checking ‘am I on track toward my goals?’ but also are the goals still applicable (intuitively and practically) in the shifting landscape.

3. Adopt Mindful Scheduling

Integrate periods of action and allowing into your routine. For instance, schedule dedicated work times followed by moments of rest or introspection.
Schedule same project tasks on the same day to avoid feeling scattered and overwhelmed. For instance, I work on my podcast, editing, record, and posts in a batch. I work with clients on allocated days of the week wherever possible. I work with marketing and copywriting on another day.

4. Embrace Flexibility

Life and business are unpredictable. Be ready to pivot when circumstances suggest a different approach than what you initially planned. My new goal review habit is really helping me with this.
Things are changing faster in business and in life than anytime I can remember, and I have seen a lot of change. Be prepared to review more frequently and weigh up the cost of resistance vs adaption.

5. Celebrate Small Wins

Acknowledging progress, no matter how small, reinforces the balance. Celebrate the moments where allowing and action work hand-in-hand. Something I repeat often. The unconscious mind loves a celebration and will actively seek to recreate the circumstances of the win it’s celebrating.

Spotlight: Personal Development Meets Business Strategy

In your personal life, balance empowers you to grow without pressure—allowing for grace while pursuing dreams. In business, it optimises productivity and innovation, fostering resilience in challenges and adaptability in transitions.
We’re in evolutionary times in all ways. Be willing to get curious, question and explore. It’s not the event that defines us, it’s how we respond.

Reflection for the Week

As you step into the week ahead, ask yourself: Where in my life or business am I pushing too hard? Where could I benefit from allowing things to unfold naturally?

Journal about these insights and explore actionable steps that honour both allowing and action.
I’ll be opening up my 30-day journalling and meditation program “Write Your Way Forward”, at the beginning of July, to support folks in these pivoting times. I’ll keep you posted of when it’s ready. If you want to be on the waitlist, reply and let me know.

Quote of the Week

Final Thoughts

Balancing allowing and action isn’t about perfection but about flow—aligning with the rhythm of your life and business. As you practice this balance, you’ll discover new pathways to growth, fulfilment, adaptability and success.

#1: Check our my Coffee and Coaching Live on my YouTube and Rumble Channels (Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning – 11 am – live). I'm restarting the lives very soon. Come check out my channel, and give me a like and subscribe.

#2: Strategy Calls

As entrepreneurs, sometimes we just need a half-hour with another like-minded person to figure out what to focus on next. And to keep it simple and identify our next, impactful, action steps.

Sometimes you’re too close (or ‘in it’) to figure that out for yourself.

How often do you take time out to move away from the doing in your business, and focus on the big picture, reviewing the dream and getting to the nitty gritty stuff that niggles you every day?

In the 1-1 strategy sessions I help you cut through the fog and get crystal clear on your next steps toward next level results - more clients, more sales, more effective marketing, tech clarity and simplicity – whatever it is for you.

If you are interested, drop me a message and I will send you full details and how to apply.

#3: Follow me on LinkedIn for more Tech, strategy, systems, marketing tips, and happiness-building.

If you have something you want to ask, drop me an email and Let's get your questions answered.
